An unbroken Covenant!
An unbroken Covenant
By Yvon Attia
A covenant in the ancient world was similar to what we in the modern world would call a contract, treaty, or a will. Each covenant established the basis of a relationship, conditions for that relationship, promises and conditions of the relationship and consequences if those conditions were unmet. One of the most familiar examples of a covenant for us is marriage.
In the book of Isaiah 54:5, God makes the following promise with His people.
For your Maker is your husband—
the Lord Almighty is his name—
the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer;
he is called the God of all the earth.
God presents himself as the “Husband”, who will care and provide for his bride. Due to negative past experiences, many struggle to be established in this covenant, because they think that even it can be broken. But God confirms a different type of covenant. He says,
“For the mountains may move
and the hills disappear,
but even then my faithful love for you will remain. My covenant of blessing will never be broken,” (Isaiah 54:10).
This is powerful, since our covenant with our faithful God “will never be broken”. So do not let your mistakes pull you away, and make you believe lies. You are grounded in an unbreakable covenant because of your union with Christ. Mountains may move, troubles may come, testing may be there, But that will not change the fact that we are in “An breakable Covenant”.
